The Porsche Boxster Spyder is back and it’s more powerful than ever. Actually, it’s simply the most powerful Boxster to ever come out of Porsche. Unlike the Boxster, Porsche is doing the same thing it did with the Cayman GT4 by putting the 911 Carrera S’ 3.8-liter flat-six behind the seats and then mating it to a six-speed manual transmission. The engine injects over 375 horsepower into the drop-top and is able to go from 0 to 70 in just 4.3 seconds. This also means that its top speed is 180mph.
But what about the appearance? What’s changed? Well, on the outside it looks remarkably similar to the 2012 Boxster but on the inside it features a few new upgrades. The 2016 Boxster Spyder comes with standard Sport Seats Plus, a smaller steering wheel. In order to keep the weight down, it’s also done away with the previously standard audio system and air conditioning. The 2016 Boxster Spyder will hit dealerships in October 2015 but you can place an order now.
