The limited edition race car is the most powerful version of the Ford GT yet.
Ford is building on the Ford GT’s racing heritage with its most powerful version yet. The track-only Ford GT Mk II receives a number of updates, most notably to its 3.5L EcoBoost, which now produces 700 hp, 200 more than the Ford GT race car. It will also feature the same seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, which will be tweaked for the track and cooling system with water spray technology and a roof-mounted intake help the Mk II to operate at an optimal level at higher temperatures.
The massive amount of engine power is matched with a powerful brake system that uses carbon ceramic brakes, comprised of 5.5-inch front and 14.1-inch rear Brembo brakes, which sit inside Michelin Pilot Sport GT tires. Of course, it wouldn’t be a modern race car without some enhancements to the Ford GT’s aerodynamics. The Mk II features a dual-element rear wing, a new racing-spec front splitter and diffuser, new fender louvers and dive planes, all of which enables the Mk II to deliver 400% more downforce.
The Ford GT Mk II will be limited to 45 examples and is now available.
