Well, the October 22 event has come and gone, and Apple has yet again pleased us with their future offering of the iPad Air, a lighter and more powerful version of the handheld device that changed the lay of the land and pushed everyone from Amazon to Google into the tablet market. The package is slight but impressive. Actually, “slight” is a good term when it comes to tablets. This one has a breathtaking 9.7-inch screen and retina display, but it packs it into a device that is only one pound in weight.
That means life will be a lot easier on your wrists, and the 2048 x 1536 resolution will take care of your eyes. Perhaps the thing that excites us the most is the one subtle change that Apple made to their touch-rejection algorithm. Now the device knows the difference between when you are simply resting your thumb on the display and when you’re intentionally interacting with the device. (How cool is that?)
Power is also not a problem as the device packs the A7 chip along with an M7 coprocessor into a piece of electronics genius that should never leave you waiting around twiddling thumbs. You can grab the iPad Air in 16GB, 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB models. Sizes are for both the Wi-Fi only and the Wi-Fi with Cellular, though prices will differ.
For Wi-Fi only: $ 499, $ 599, $ 699, and $ 799.
For Wi-Fi with Cellular: $ 629, $ 729, $ 829, $ 929.
Merry Early Christmas, Apple crowd!
